Make a better observation
Photograph the whole animal, then a side view and useful details. Record the date, habitat, behaviour and host plant. An uncertain family-level ID can be more useful than an unsupported species name.

Collect evidence, leave habitat
Use the sightings to choose a habitat to explore with an adult. Observe from paths, protect retreats and avoid disturbing a moult. A public record may be old or its location generalised.
