FIELD CHARACTERS

What to look for

A slender wasp with long legs. Open comb nests are made from paper-like fibres.

Observe a resting individual from a distance; record the pattern rather than just a nest.

Identification limits

Other Polistes species occur. Do not approach an active nest to obtain an image.

These introductory notes and broad habitat associations do not replace a species key.
